Monitoring VAST Databases

You can monitor VAST Database performance and capacity as follows:  

  • On the cluster's dashboard in the VAST Web UI, select VAST DB in the Performance widget to display the following database metrics:Dashboard

    • Bandwidth. The rate at which data is transmitted between the client and VAST Cluster.

    • Running. The number of currently running database queries.

    • Scanned. The number of database table rows scanned per second.

  • Use predefined analytics reports, which can be found under Predefined Analytics in the Analytics -> Analytics page in the VAST Web UI:Analytics Reports

    • VAST DB Latency: Shows the number of running queries and the average duration of a query run on the VAST cluster.

    • VAST DB Bandwidth: Shows the number of returned or read bytes per second.

    • VAST DB Rows: Shows the number of rows that were scanned, imported, deleted, updated, inserted or filtered out per second.

    • VAST DB Requests: Shows the number of requests per request type (query data, import, insert, update, and delete).

  • Create a customized analytics report using various database-related metrics.

    Tip

    When creating a customized analytics report via VAST Web UI, search for VAST DB keywords to filter Available Properties for database-related entries.

  • View capacity analytics on the VAST Database views in the Analytics -> Capacity page.

    The analytics includes usable and logical capacity, as well as data reduction.
