Connecting Clusters to DataSpace
As a prerequisite, ensure that the cluster you are going to connect to VAST DataSpace, is configured with an IPv4 management IP. VAST clusters with IPv6 management IPs cannot be added to VAST DataSpace.
If you configured a remote cluster as a replication peer, that remote cluster is automatically added to VAST DataSpace provided it has connectivity to the local cluster through the management network.
In order to configure replication or global access involving the local cluster as a source or destination, you must connect the local cluster to VAST DataSpace as well as the other clusters that will participate.
In the VAST Web UI, open the DataSpace page (select DataSpace from the left navigation menu.)
From the Add New dropdown, select Connect My Clusters.
Complete the fields for one of the clusters that you want to connect to DataSpace:
VMS IP
Enter the IP of the cluster's VMS.
Username
Enter a valid VMS username for the cluster.
Password
Enter the password for the specified user.
If you want to add another cluster, click Add Another and then enter the details for another cluster.
Optionally repeat the previous step for additional clusters.
When you are done, click Create.
Each cluster that you added now has a card that appears in the Cluster Cards tab.
Viewing Connected Clusters
The DataSpace page provides the following tools to view currently connected clusters and information about them:
A graphic topology view of the connected clusters. This shows which clusters are connected to the local cluster through multi-cluster management and any connections that are established between them.
The Cluster Cards tab, showing information about each connected cluster on a card.
The Clusters Table tab, which shows details about the connected clusters in a tabular format.

The topology shows:
Any connected clusters.
Any connections established between connected clusters.
You can:
Click or hover on a cluster (1) to highlight up the cluster's card in the Cluster Cards tab.
Click a replication connection to identify its record in the Paths tab.
Click a Global Access connection to view it's configuration.
Click

Viewing Cluster Cards
On the Cluster Cards tab, each cluster's card provides shows the alarm status of the cluster, the following details are shown per cluster:

Cluster details:
Data Usage. Shows how much physical data storage capacity there is on the cluster and how much of it is in use.
BW. The data transmission rate on the connection between the cluster and its client network.
IOPS. The number of I/O operations per second on the connection between the cluster and its client network.
Latency. The time needed to perform an I/O operation on the connection between the cluster and its client network.
Open Cluster button. Opens the Cluster's VMS in another browser tab.
Alarm status
Buttons for removing the cluster from DataSpace and updating user credentials.
Viewing the Clusters Table
On the Clusters Table tab you can display the following columns:
Name | The name of the cluster. |
Logical Space | The amount of logical capacity on the cluster. |
Logical Space Used | The amount of logical capacity in use on the cluster. |
Region | If the cluster is a VAST on Cloud cluster, this column displays the AWS region where the cluster resides. |
State | The state of the cluster:
|
You can use the right-click menu to export any row or selected rows to a CSV file.
Opening a Cluster
To open the VMS of a connected cluster, click the Open Cluster button on the cluster's card. The VMS of the cluster opens in a browser tab.
Updating User Credentials for a Connected Cluster
If the user credentials that were supplied when a cluster was connected are changed on the remote cluster, the cluster becomes disconnected. Update the user credentials to restore the connection.
To update the credentials for a connected cluster:
Click the
button. Enter a valid username and password for the cluster's VMS in the fields provided.
Click Create.
Removing a Connected Cluster
Click the
button. Click Yes to confirm the removal.
The cluster is removed from DataSpace.
