SMB Change Notifications for Subdirectories

VAST Cluster 5.3.3 enables an SMB client to get notifications if a change occurs on any file or directory contained beneath the directory where the client has subscribed for change notifications. In previous releases, SMB change notifications were supported for the top-level directory only.

This feature is referred to as SMB recursive change notifications. To subscribe to such notifications, the client sets the SMB2_WATCH_TREE flag in the SMB2_CHANGE_NOTIFY request.

This feature is by default disabled. To enable it on your cluster, contact VAST Support.

The following limitations apply:

SMB recursive change notifications are not available for paths for which Global Namespace is configured.
Using SMB recursive change notifications for nested SMB shares may entail unexpected behavior.

Live Monitoring of Block Volumes

VAST Cluster 5.3.3 offers performance metrics and live monitoring for block volumes.

Real-time collection of performance metrics can be enabled and disabled per volume. To do so:

In VAST Web UI, go to Element Store -> Volumes, right-click a volume and select Toggle Monitoring.
In VAST CLI, use the --enable-live-monitoring and --disable-live-monitoring options on the volume modify command in VAST CLI.
