Locating Failed Devices

Prev Next

The Hardware Layout page in the VAST Web UI highlights the location of any failed slots, SSDs and SCMs.

Device failure is indicated by the device's state. This is shown on the Infrastructure page of the VAST Web UI in the State column of relevant tab for the device type (SSD, SCM or the slot in which the device resides).

Tip

To choose which columns to display on any given tab, click the Column-selector-symbol.png button at the top right of the grid.

  • To identify a defective slot, SCM or SSD, open the Hardware Layout page. The defective slot or drive is indicated by a red bounding rectangle.

  • To easily access the hardware information pages, select Infrastructure from the VMS menu to open the Infrastructure page, then click Tree View to view a hierarchical view of all the hardware in the cluster. Select any hardware to open the information tab for the selected hardware.

  • Click the links in some columns of the Infrastructure page to navigate to other hardware objects such as CBoxes, DBoxes or DNodes. Click any link to open the information tab for the specific hardware.

  • You can switch to the Hardware Layout view of a device from the Infrastructure page. To do this, right-click the device's row in its tab on the Infrastructure page and select Hardware View.
