VAST Cluster provides extended monitoring capabilities for InfiniBand clusters through integration with OpenSM, an InfiniBand-compliant subnet manager. If the cluster uses IB networking on its internal interfaces, each CNode in the cluster participates in OpenSM High Availability scenarios, and VMS raises alarms in case of IB infrastructure issues, such as cable disconnections or receive/transmit errors on IB switch ports.
OpenSM rus on all CNodes in the cluster. VMS monitors the OpenSM service status on all CNodes and raises an alarm if the service is found to be inactive on one of the CNodes, or when OpenSM configuration is not as expected.
You can view the OpenSM status per CNode and check which CNode is currently the OpenSM master as follows:
In VAST Web UI, go to the Infrastructure -> CNodes page in VAST Web UI and look at the OpenSM Master column.
In VAST CLI, run the
cnode listorcnode showcommand and find theOpenSM-Masterfield in the command output.
