Configuring Async Replication and Global Access on Shared Paths

Note

This page is under construction.

A global access protected path (global folder) and an asynchronous replication remote protected path can be configured on the same source path. When the source paths are the same, the replication destination path can also be used as the global access destination pathGlobal Namespace Overview

Async replication and global access can share source and destination paths.

With this configuration, the replication source peer is also the origin of the global folder. In the event of failover, you can optionally set a peer that becomes the source of replication to also become the origin for the global folder.

Requirements and Limitations

The following requirements and limitations apply to this configuration:

  • All participating clusters must be running VAST Cluster 5.4 (or later). If any clusters are running 5.3 or below, async replication and global access can share a source path. They cannot share a destination path.

  • Asynchronous replication can be enabled before enabling the global access configuration or at the same time. Configuring global access before enabling asynchronous replication is not supported. Global access must be disabled in order to start replication.
