VAST provides connectors (plugins) for Trino/Starburst and Apache Spark query engines. With these connectors, these engines can push-down or offload work to the VAST Database where database operations can be executed with less effort and with less data transfer between the query engine and the storage. This allows your applications to do more work with less hardware compared to lake-house approaches (or do a lot more work with the same hardware).
This results in a direct, ultra-fast interface into your VAST storage system using the analytic tools you already know; along with the scalability, performance, data reduction and snapshot capabilities of VAST.
The connectors access the VAST Database using a REST API, to create tables, filter data, and perform modifications.
